SCHOLARSHIP ANNOUNCEMENT

                                     Deadline for application is Thursday, March 12, 2010

PURPOSE:  This scholarship has been established to provide financial assistance to a person who intends to complete requirements to earn a certificate or degree from an accredited community college, college or university. The number and size of Scholarships to be awarded are listed annually in the Scholarship Announcement Letter.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:  To be considered for an Our Lady of the Meadows Scholarship, the applicant must:

1. Be a registered member of Our Lady of the Meadows Parish.

2. Indicate he/she will be a full time, certificate or degree seeking student at an accredited community college, college or university during the award period.

3. Complete the Our Lady of the Meadows College Scholarship application package and Boulse Financial Statement, if applicable.

4. Provide only three current letters of recommendation from people familiar with academic performance and/or character of the applicant. Neither letter should be from a relative. One letter of recommendation must be from a staff person at Our Lady of the Meadows or a LIFT staff person.

Preference will be given to those who have demonstrated involvement in, and have made contributions to parish and community activities.

Scholarship applications will not be retained from year to year. A previous applicant and/or recipient may re-apply and must submit updated materials to be considered for the current award.  The number of scholarships awarded will be subject to the availability of funds.

Deadline for application is found in the annual Scholarship announcement letter and is always mid-March. Award notification will be prior to the end of the current school year.

AWARD PROCEDURE:  The award procedure is determined jointly by the pastor and the Peace and Justice Committee of Our Lady of the Meadows parish. The parish reserves the right to change any aspect of this award based on internal policies at any time.  The parish also reserves the right to make no award for a particular year.

The criteria and procedures described in the Scholarship Announcement Letter supersede any and all previous OLM scholarship announcements.
