Scholarship Applicant:

Our Lady of the Meadows Church will award four $750.00 college scholarships this year. The Knights of Columbus will fund one scholarship and funding for three additional scholarships is generated from projects sponsored by the Peace and Justice Committee, memorials and donations. Preferences are given to those who have demonstrated involvement in, and have made contributions to parish and community activities. In addition to those four scholarships, there will be an additional $1,000 scholarship known as the Anthony, Sally and Tommalee Boulse Memorial Scholarship bequeathed to OLM from the estate of Anthony and Sally Boulse and memorials for Tommalee Boulse.

Applicants must be registered members of Our Lady of the Meadows Church or Holy Rosary Church and indicate he/she will be a full time, certificate or degree seeking student at an accredited community college, college, or university during the award period. A completed scholarship application package must be submitted by Friday, March 9, 2012 The financial statement form is needed for consideration for the Boulse Memorial Scholarship.

All applications are reviewed by the scholarship committee. Only complete applications will be reviewed. Names and addresses are removed from the applications and each applicant is assigned a number. The complete applications are then sent to the reviewing committee. The reviewing committee is made up of interested parishioners from varied backgrounds. The reviewing committee then reads each application scoring them in the areas of: church involvement, applicant’s letter of personal goals and objectives, scholastic achievement, community involvement and recommendations. Preference is given to those who have demonstrated involvement in church and community. A numerical scoring system is used. Applications are then returned to the scholarship committee for tabulation. Scholarships are awarded to the highest scoring applicants.

High school seniors, current college students, previous applicants, previous recipients, and nontraditional students are encouraged to apply. Applications are available in the Narthex, from the parish office and parish website. Award notification will be prior to the end of the current school year.
